About Us

Blue Moon Cottage is located about 200 miles east of West Palm Beach, FL and 100 miles north of Nassau on the beautiful island of Elbow Cay. Elbow Cay is just one of many small cays in the boomerang-shaped barrier to the mainland of Abaco in the Bahamas. At only 4.5 miles long and 3,000 feet wide, at its widest point, Elbow Cay is home to wonderful people, great food, beautiful beaches, breathtaking sunsets, and is in close proximity to world-class sailing, snorkeling, diving, and fishing.

Since we are located on a tiny little island, we don't have an 'address' per say but if you must reach us by mail - this should find us.

Here at Blue Moon Cottage we want you to feel immediately relaxed and welcomed. With such a wonderful, vibrant community you are sure to meet our wonderful neighbors, pet the island puppies, hear Phantom the island cat meow, meet our favorite bartenders, and even wiggle your toes in the very sand that a lucky few before you experienced as well.

This is a total locals favorite! Wether you want to take a dip in the pool, enjoy breakfast, lunch, or dinner at let loose - the Abaco Inn is the place to do it. The food is top-notch and we absolutely recommend stopping by for dinner one night or for some post-dinner cocktails at their outdoor bar

Sea Spray Resort & Marina

The outdoor bar is the perfect place to watch boats come and go on the Abaco Sea - and if you are lucky a dolphin -  and also a prime spot to watch tonights game, live on one of their 6 giant TVs. If you really want to get in the action up close, walk across the golf car path to Garbonzos, the island's most acclaimed surf spot. Surfs up!

Firefly Resort

Firefly Resort is a not to be missed spot to watch the sunset over the Abaco Sea! Owned by Firefly Distillery, you can be sure to enjoy  creative drinks with featuring their many flavored vodkas - our favorite go to is the Frozen Sweet Tea & Lemonade Arnold Palmer, tastes like a normal Arnie, but definitely packs a kick! Also featuring a tropical style Italian restaurant with especially yummy, beautifully presented and always fresh appetizers best described as 'Island Life with Style and Class'.

What more can you ask for while on a tropical vacation, oh that this wonderful gem only be 2,500 feet away - check that box, as Blue Moon Cottage is under half a mile away!

Elbow Reef Lighthouse

Hope towns claim to fame!

Hope Town is the home to the famous Elbow Reef Lighthouse.  Probably the most recognizable landmark in Abaco, the lighthouse is one of the last manual lighthouses in the world. Originally constructed in 1863 to reduce shipwrecks and then renovated in 1936 to feature a beacon to be more recognizable.

Elbow Reef Lighthouse remains one of the last remaining hand-wound lighthouses in the world. The lighthouse keeper on duty must wind up the weights every 2 hours in order for the red and white candy-striped lighthouse to be seen from 17 miles away. Today, the Elbow Reef Lighthouse is still sending out light, rated at 325,000 candlepower, with the same light source it acquired in 1936.  

Albury's Ferry Service

Albury's Ferry Service

Started in 1959, Albury's Ferry Service began servicing the small islands around Marsh Harbour. They offer a range of services from scheduled ferry service, private ferry charter service, letter delivery service, and 'Island Concierge' services. With the trip taking only 20 minutes, we recommend getting a round trip ticket for a day to check out Marsh Harbour even if only for a quick dinner. An evening ferry ride back to Blue Moon Cottage can be quite romantic.
